Battle of Cape Sarych

Battle of Cape Sarych

18 November 1914, Off Cape Sarych, Crimea

Russian victory

Returning from shelling Trebizond, the Russian Black Sea Fleet met Yavuz and Midilli in fog off the Crimea. Only the flagship Evstafi could see the enemy clearly. In a short exchange at about 7,000 metres she was hit several times but put a shell into Yavuz, which turned away. (5 November in the Russian Old Style calendar.)
