Brazilian Naval Revolt

1893–1894

Much of Brazil's fleet mutinied against President Floriano Peixoto and held Rio de Janeiro's bay for six months. The government bought a makeshift fleet abroad, the revolt in Rio collapsed, and the rebel ironclad Aquidabã was torpedoed in the south.
