Built at Arkhangelsk as the Russian frigate Patrikii and sold to Spain in 1817 as Reina María Isabel. Captured by Blanco Encalada's squadron at Talcahuano in October 1818 and renamed O'Higgins, she became Cochrane's flagship at Valdivia, on the voyage to Peru and in the attack on the Esmeralda. Renamed María Isabel again after O'Higgins fell in 1823, she was sold to Argentina in 1826 as Buenos Aires and foundered off Cape Horn on the way round.
