Modernised: torpedo bulges, thicker deck armour, new boilers, tripod masts, and more elevation for her big guns.

1942

Repaired after Pearl Harbor with dual-purpose 5-inch guns and many more anti-aircraft guns.

Based at Bantry Bay in Ireland in 1918 to cover convoys against German raiders. The only battleship to get under way at Pearl Harbor, she was bombed and beached to keep the channel clear. Repaired, she supported the landings in Normandy and southern France and at Iwo Jima and Okinawa, and survived two atomic bomb tests at Bikini.
