Rebuilt as a heavy cruiser

Her fifteen 6.1-inch guns in triple turrets were swapped for ten 8-inch guns in twin turrets, as planned from the start: the treaty limits on heavy cruisers had been dodged by building her as a light cruiser.

Built as a light cruiser and regunned as a heavy cruiser. Fought at Sunda Strait. Rammed by Mogami at Midway, then sunk by dive bombers from Enterprise and Hornet: the last Japanese ship lost in the battle.
